A year after graduation–where I took a part-time job to help pay the bills–I soon found myself in the world of freelancing. I began working my first client, an author and entrepreneur named Dr. Willie Williams, in May 2023. From then to around June 2024, I helped with

• Edited and transcribed interviews for client’s academic project
• Transcribed chapters for client’s book “Teaching Your Black Teen Chess”
  • Became a published editor as a result of this task
  • Conducted research and editing for “The Moves of Black Historical Figures” document
• Edited slideshows for client’s “Self-Publishing Informational” courses
• Collaborated with client regarding ideas for additional editing projects

Three months after that, in August, I became a freelance blogger for IVY Marketing Group, a marketing agency that worked within the senior living community. While there, I was responsible for

• Wrote and edited blog articles for IVY’s blog page
  • Coordinated with supervisor regarding article topic and how to communicate them to readers

My time there ended in January 2024.

In August 2024, I was contracted by Dr. Willie Williams to be the marketing manager for his start-up company, Accepted Admissions. The company was an educational consultant, providing services to overlooked Black schools / school districts in the Chicagoland area. While there, I was responsible for

• Designed social media assets for company’s social media pages
• Created content calendars for company’s social media pages
• Implemented marketing plans for company initiatives

My time there ended in January 2025.
